The fight Holloway vs. Edgar is going to be a mixed martial arts event arranged by the “Ultimate Fighting Championship,” which will take place on the 27th of July, 2019, at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The fight between current champion Max Holloway and former UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar is expected to serve as the main event.

The pairing has been scheduled twice before, first at UFC 222, but in both instances, the flights were scrapped at the time due to both fighters suffering respective injuries. Women’s flyweight fight between Lauren Murphy and Mara Romero Borella was initially scheduled for this event. However, on the 20th of June, promotion officials elected to move the bout a week later at UFC on ESPN 5.

Press Report:

Max Holloway’s goal to become the next “Ultimate Fighting Championship”. Champ was not successful in this past April, after coming up short to Dustin Poirier at UFC 236 in a “Fight of the Night” performance.

But just because he hit a roadblock, doesn’t mean Max’s dreams of winning the Lightweight title are finished. Indeed, the current UFC Featherweight king knows he can get back to another title fight at 155 pounds.

Apparently, he does not care how many wins it takes to get together. “55 ain’t far off. That’s only 10 pounds, that’s all it is. We’ll get back there. Hopefully, it’s sooner than and we’ll see what happens. If it takes to win 10-fights to fight for another belt up there, become the double champ, it takes a 10-fight streak,” he said during a recent media luncheon via MMA Fighting.

“That’s what it is. I am not scared of no work and everyone knows that. I will put my nose down and work I guess.” His loss to Poirier was his first in five years, and despite losing his 13 fight win streak.

Holloway will never make any excuses, including the weight difference. One thing he will say, though, is that the man who is going to fight Frankie Edgar at UFC 240 on the 27th of July, 2019 is not the same one that fought three months ago.

“It’s in my history. You guys watch my fights, you guys go back to all my fights. I’m a different guy every time. Come on July 27, you guys are going to see a different guy going in there again,” he said.

“The kid that came in April, the guy you’re looking at, standing in front of him, I would kill that kid. I’d body him. There’s no differentiation and it happens, this sport or life, period, is like Chutes and Ladders. Sometimes you’ve got to slide down to climb up a bigger ladder.”

Main Twist:

If Holloway wins, it will give him his third title defense at 145 pounds and will give him his fourteenth straight win in the division. Should he lose, don’t be too surprised if he moves up to 155 pounds comes sooner, rather than later.
