Despite spending much of the offseason focusing on upgrading the offense, the New York Giants looked pitiful on the side of the ball in a Week 1 loss to the NFC East rival Dallas Cowboys. They will try to right the ship under the bright lights of Monday Night Football against the Detroit Lions in Week 2, beginning at 8:30 p.m. ET on ESPN (live streaming at WatchESPN).

Lions vS. Giants Live Stream

New York lost that game, 19-3. Eli Manning failed to throw a touchdown pass, and the team as a whole rushed for a paltry 35 yards in total. Paul Perkins, in his regular season debut as the starting running back, had just 16 yards on seven carries. New receiver Brandon Marshall had just one catch for 10 yards, his only target.

It’s worth noting that their best player, Odell Beckham Jr., missed the game with an injury. Beckham wasn’t expected to play, but his status for Monday is still up in the air. He practiced earlier in the week but was a limited participant.

Detroit is playing in the competitive NFC North, and the Lions have a win on their record going into Week 2. Matthew Stafford threw four touchdown passes against the Arizona Cardinals, and the Lions had 82 yards rushing in their 35-23 victory. Stafford continues to look like one of the best quarterbacks in the league from a pure production standpoint.

The Lions’ victory came after they trailed the Cardinals. Stafford, though, is great in comeback situations, orchestrating 27 game-winning drives in the fourth quarter or overtime since 2011. He can never be counted out, and neither can the Lions.

Lions at Giants news:

  • Injuries aren’t much of a concern for the Lions right now. They’re very healthy going into Week 2, with wide receiver Golden Tate a full participant in practice on Friday.
  • The Giants don’t have a huge list of injuries themselves, but wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is still a question mark after missing Week 1. He has been practicing but is still limited and his status for Monday’s game is very much up in the air.
  • Detroit, though, is preparing as though Beckham will play on Monday:

“We prepare as if he’s going to play, bottom line,” Lions defensive coordinator Teryl Austin said on Friday. “So there will be no surprises. If he shows up and plays, we’re going to be prepared for him.”

  • Speaking of wide receivers, Brandon Marshall had a pretty nothing game with the Giants in Week 1. But instead of putting the team on blast for his lack of targets, he simply said that the Giants “have no choice but to do better.”

Lions at Giants prediction:

This was one of the more divisive games in SB Nation’s expert predictions. Five of the eight experts think the Lions will win it, leaving the others there, plus the OddsShark computer, going with the Giants.

Packers vS. Falcons

Watch Live :::Packers vs. Falcons Live Stream

It’s the home opener for the Atlanta Falcons as they host the Green Bay Packers, the same team they played their last home game against. It won’t be exactly the same though as their last meeting was in the Georgia Dome and this one will take place in the brand new Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The Falcons were able to beat Green Bay in the last game played in the Georgia Dome, which just so happened to be the NFC Championship game. Led by 2016 NFL MVP Matt Ryan at quarterback, the Falcons stuffed the flame out of the red-hot Packers with a blow out win. Now they have a team looking for revenge in Week 2.

Neither team played incredibly well in Week 1 as the Packers beat the Seattle Seahawks 17-9 and had to hold on in the end. They were able to run out the clock and keep Seattle at bay.

The Falcons game was even closer against the Chicago Bears. A 23-17 lead came down to the last snap as defensive end Brooks Reed saved the day with a fourth-down sack that ended the Bears upset try.

On Sunday Night Football, it will be all about which team can shake off the rust and perform to their full potential.

Details for Sunday’s game are below:

Date: Sunday, Sept. 17
Start time: 8:30 p.m. ET
Location: Atlanta, GA
Stadium: Mercedes-Benz Stadium
TV Info: NBC
Live Stream: NBC Sports, FuboTV

The Falcons look to christen their new home with a big win against an NFC powerhouse. All of this plays out on Sunday Night Football in what should certainly be one of the best games of the week.

49ers vS. Seahawks live stReaM

49ers vs. Seahawks live stream: Watch Week 2 online

The San Francisco 49ers face off against Seattle Seahawks on Sunday in the season’s first NFC West game. Both teams enter Week 2 with an 0-1 record. The 49ers lost to the Carolina Panthers in Week 1 and the Seahawks lost to the Green Bay Packers.

The NFC West has been a division dominated in recent years by these teams, as these teams have won six of the last seven division championships. However, the San Francisco 49ers have not won the division since the 2012 season.

Seattle’s defense is expected to be one of the most complete units in the league this season. However, they allowed 370 offensive yards to the Packers in Week 1. The defense will need to perform much better this week in order to avoid starting the season 0-2 and falling to the bottom of the division.

The 49ers only scored three points against the Carolina Panthers in Week 1. First-year head coach Kyle Shanahan was hired as the offensive mastermind behind the Atlanta Falcons’ record-breaking year in 2016. However, against this Seahawks defense, there is a legitimate chance that the 49ers play their first two games without scoring a touchdown.

A lot is going against the Niners in their Week 2 matchup. The Seahawks enter this game as a 14 point favorites over San Francisco. Seattle has also won the nine of the last ten matchups against the 49ers, dating back to 2012. However, this is an intense rivalry and a divisional game, so anything can happen.

Real Madrid will travel to the Anoeta Stadium on Sunday following back-to-back draws in La Liga, where they’ll take on a Real Sociedad side who have won all three of their league matches thus far.

Los Blancos’ bid to rectify their stuttering start to the season will be made all the more difficult by their in-form opponents, particularly as they’ll do so without several key players.

Read on for the latest team news and a preview of the contest, but first here are the viewing details you need to catch the action.

Time: 7:45 p.m. BST/2:45 p.m. ET

TV: Sky Sports (UK), beIN Sports USA

Live Stream: Sky Go (UK), beIN Sports Connect (USA)

Team News

Cristiano Ronaldo will serve the fifth and final match of his domestic ban and so will be unavailable for the match, while Marcelo will also be suspended for seeing red in Real’s 1-1 draw with Levante, per Sport.

The same outlet reported Karim Benzema and Mateo Kovacic will also miss out due to injury.

According to Transfermarkt, Carlos Martinez, Raul Navas, Ruben Pardo and Mikel Oyarzabal could all miss out for Sociedad due to injury.

Predicted Real Sociedad lineup: Geronimo Rulli; Alvaro Odriozola, Aritz Elustondo, Inigo Martinez, Kevin Rodrigues; Xabi Prieto, Asier Illarramendi, David Zurutuza; Adnan Januzaj, Willian Jose, Juanmi

Predicted Real Madrid lineup: Keylor Navas; Dani Carvajal, Sergio Ramos, Raphael Varane, Theo Hernandez; Casemiro, Luka Modric, Toni Kroos; Isco, Marco Asensio, Gareth Bale

Preview

The two sides have had highly contrasting starts to the season, and surprisingly it has been La Real who have been much the better of the pair.

Sociedad have seen off Celta Vigo, Villarreal and Deportivo La Coruna so far, and sports journalist Alexandra Jonson has been extremely impressed:

Meanwhile, Real have struggled without talismanic forward Ronaldo, and SB Nation’s Lucas Navarrete believes he bears much of the responsibility for their draws with Valencia and Levante:

His team-mates have to cope without him for one more match, so it will fall to the likes of Gareth Bale to step up in his place, particularly with Benzema also injured.

Bale hasn’t enjoyed a vintage start to the season, though he was harshly jeered by some sections of Real’s support on Wednesday despite putting in an effective showing against Apoel Nicosia, per ESPN FC’s Dermot Corrigan:

While he may never have appeared to truly settle in the Spanish capital, he has nevertheless contributed much during his time there:

On Sunday, he’s likely to shoulder the burden of firing Real back to winning ways in what is likely to be a hard-fought contest.

It’s vital Real do not lose any more ground to Barcelona this early in the title race. They’re still capable of winning even without the likes Ronaldo, Benzema and Marcelo, but it will undoubtedly make their task all the more difficult.
